Crossed Structure Leather Binding Workshop

Crossed Structure Leather Binding Workshop

Learn the traditional craft of binding, specifically crossed structure binding at this intriguing and edifying day workshop.

Your tutor, Anna Yevtukh, will lead you through the making process for making a basic crossed structure binding, creating a presentable full leather notebook with clean cut edges. Learn how the cover of this book becomes part of the sewing structure, interlocking from front to back, and you will discover how to sew folds of paper into the cover straps.

The day will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with a pause for a rather tasty lunch partway through the day. The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience. Participants are asked to provide their own aprons but all other materials and equipment is provided.

Anna studied bookbinding to graduate level in Ukraine and now teaches the subject. She has been designing, making and selling her own creative books for many years and is a member of the Society of Bookbinders and the Worcestershire Guild of Designer Craftsmen.
